I have a dear friend who boarded a plane today and is probably somewhere over the pond right now, feasting on international flight food, flipping through her French phrase book, and feeling the thrill of first time travel outside the U.S.

In related news, while I was faithfully working in my cubicle today, a coworker accused me of having PMS.
To some, these might seem unrelated. But to those of us with rollerbag goddess tendencies, it’s clear: the green old devil Envy has reared her ugly head. I don’t have any immediate fixes. My workaday life seems pretty dull in comparison to the adventures she’s about to embark upon. I’m hopeful she’ll find a way to send me some photos from her trip abroad so that I may feast upon them (and not devour my coworker). In the past, I have done the same for her; we RBGs have to support one another.
Perhaps the truest test of a journey woman’s character is whether that envy overtakes the joy of watching a beloved friend discover her own world. Her own borders. Her own self. For my part, I felt like a mother bird who had done her duty, exploring the skies and reporting back until the next rollerbag goddess takes wing.
Fly, my dear friend. Fly.

And don’t forget to grab me a pebble from the beach in Nice.
