Whitsunday Island, Australia. Photo by Charish Badzinski. |
Getting to Whitsunday Island, Australia is a trip in itself, especially if you hop a ride on one of the yellow rafts, like the one you see here. Fair warning: hang on tight as you speed through the “Devil’s Washing Machine.”
Once on the island, it’s worth the time and effort to hike to the top of the hill for the view of the Whitsundays. But for my money, the white powdery sand and crystal blue water is where its at. Scrub your jewelry to a shine in the sand, and watch the rays dart about timidly under the waves.
