Sunset near Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Photo by Charish Badzinski. |
On a clear evening, this photo would not have been nearly as interesting. But a mixture of contrails and clouds, paired with the skeletal trees in shadow over the pastels of late day light make for an interesting moment. To capture it, I pulled off to the side of the road on highway 21 in Wisconsin, near Oshkosh, a stretch of road so straight and, some might say dull, you might not think to bring your camera.
This photo underscores the importance of always having a camera with you as you roll the world; you never know when a photo opportunity will arise. To say you saw an amazing sunset while driving home paints only a vague picture. To instead capture it and share its beauty with others is infinitely more powerful.
