The Statue of Liberty at Sunset. Photo by Charish Badzinski. |
If you take advantage of the free ride on board the Staten Island Ferry in New York, you’ll get an impressive view of the Statue of Liberty. Tourists who take the up close tours stand in line for hours; you just have to nudge your way to the balcony rail to get some great photos of this iconic statue. Plus, the ferry ride is a nice way to cool down on a hot day in the city.
Allow about an hour round trip from Lower Manhattan. Once you get to the island and disembark (as required), follow the crowds to board the ferry back to Manhattan, but stay near the front of the group for the best views.
