Whenever possible in my travels, Ms. BrooklynHound travels with me.

Finding dog-friendly places to vacation can be a bit of a challenge, but knowing she is with us instead of in a kennel gives us peace of mind. And frankly, we love traveling with her.

Since we moved to Arizona, we’ve found that Ocean Beach in San Diego, California makes for a perfect long weekend getaway. It’s a totally do-able six hour drive. And Ocean Beach is one of the most dog-friendly places I’ve been to. Ever.

There’s a huge beach where dogs can run free, off-leash.

There are dog-friendly hotels and Airbnb rentals just steps from the sand.

Even restaurants here are dog-friendly, which means we can enjoy some delicious grub with our pup.

And better than that, many restaurants even have a dog menu, featuring “pupsicles” and dog bones and even full dog-friendly meals.

There’s even a pet shop with a dog wash, so you can give your pup a scrub after a lazy day at the beach.

When we go to San Diego, we do a whole lot of not much. Maybe some swimming. Maybe some eating. Maybe some napping on the beach. That’s all just fine by BrooklynHound.
