About Charish Badzinski

Charish Badzinski is a writer and wanderer dedicated to truth-telling in travel and exploring the deeper lessons of the travel experience.

Charish Badzinski

She began fulfilling her travel dreams in her third decade, and is currently more than half way to her goal of seeing 100 countries in her lifetime. Charish is an advocate for slow travel, solo travel and budget travel, which she believes allow the traveler to journey closer to the cultural bone and glean meaningful insights from the travel experience.

With a background in journalism and public relations, her work has been published by local, regional and national outlets. Her travel writing, hard news coverage and feature stories for radio, print and online media have won numerous awards including five Travelers’ Tales Solas Awards for the Best Travel Writing. She is a past fellow to the Poynter Institute where she studied ethics and leadership in journalism, principles she fiercely adheres to today. She chronicles her wandering, wondering life on her website: rollerbaggoddess.com.

Charish frequently travels solo, but is sometimes joined on the journey by friends, family or her husband, Joel, aka BackpackMr. After being on the road, she recharges her introvert batteries in the Tucson, Arizona sunshine with their beloved dog, Brooklyn, who would prefer they all just stay home.

Charish is author of an upcoming collection of travel essays: Sand Dunes, Sea Salt & Stardust.
